What to Expect at the Irish Derby
Doors open at 5:30 on the evening of the event. When you check in with your ticket confirmation each ticketholder receives an Official Race Program and 10 Derby Dollars. There will be a combination of table seating and stand-up pub tables allowing everyone to mingle before and between races. Assigned seating will only be available when purchasing a table of 8.
Raber's begins serving a delicious menu of heavy hors d'oeuvres at 6:00 p.m. and will later offer "to die for" desserts. Cash Bar is available throughout the evening. The Races begin at 7:00 p.m.
While you're mingling, munching, or enjoying your favorite beverage you'll be busy. Browse through the Raffle Baskets and Auction Items to pick out a few of your favorite items. It's a good idea to look through your Official Race Program and determine which horses look like a winner to you.
Derby Dollars can be used for betting on the horses so visit the BANK as often as you like to purchase more Derby Dollars.
You'll be able to buy your raffle tickets at the RAFFLE WINDOW. Just buy your raffle tickets and drop one of the numbered halves in the container of your favorite basket(s)! One lucky winner will be drawn for each basket.
We've made the wagering so easy everybody enjoys it! The minimum bet is 2 Derby Dollars and the betting will be for the WIN only. How simple is that?!
The BETTING WINDOWS will open before the first race and for fifteen minutes between each race. Here's a tip from experienced Derby attendees: Review the Official Race Program immediately and mark your favorite horses. You can then buy any extra Derby Dollars you need and head straight to the Betting Windows to place your bets. When placing your bets, please refer to the Number of the Horse rather than the name of the horse.
The Announcer will call for the Betting Windows to close, the lights will dim and it's time to get ready for an exciting race!
Once the Betting Windows are closed, payoffs will be calculated. After each race, the official winning horse will be announced together with the amount of the payoff of the winner. If you're holding a winning ticket (Race Number, Horse Number) you'll redeem your ticket at the BANK and collect your winning Derby Dollars!
The Owner of the Winning Horse receives 50 Derby Dollars and can collect at the BANK after the conclusion of the race.
